Before implementing effective link building strategies it's important to make sure that your sites are optimized for the keywords you are targeting and the on-site SEO is properly implemented.  There should be a lot of keyword relevant content on your site and the home page should provide a lot of relevance for the keywords you are targeting. In reality, ranking is not just about effective link building strategies, it's also about the relevance of your site to its keywords. Remember that you are dealing with an algorithm in Google, a bot that automatically crawls sites and then decides if the site should rank for the keywords its targeting, it's never enough to just build links with proper anchor text or to have your keywords in the title tag of the page, the on site content must match as well.

The goal of any link building strategy is to become an authority in your niche, that is how Google views the quality links going to your sites, votes for your authority.
But you cannot be an authority if your websites are not loaded with authoritative content and so those high quality links will never come.

Junk Links = Junk Content.... that is how Google sees it!
and in reality that is a fact, high quality sites will not link to junk. So when your content is not top notch you will only be able to get crappy links.

Effective link building strategies in 2011 and beyond are all about Quality over Quantity. For example, while webmasters used to be able to use mass directory links to rank various keywords, those days are gone, and directory links are pretty much useless. Google has gotten really good at detecting and disqualifying links that are manually built, and even penalizing sites that go too far in their link building, so be careful  especially with new sites. Premium link building involves more consideration and a more careful process. What worked last year or two years is no longer viable because Google has gotten smarter and is in essence waging a war on crappy links!

Effective Link Building Strategies For Premium Link Building

1. The most effective link building strategy in premium link building is to make sure your link profiles look natural! All webmasters and bloggers with do manual link building, this is just a fact, but there is link building that is efficient and then there is the kind that's reckless and consequently can be destructive, ie: doing 3 guests posts on relevant blogs vs. 5000 profile links via automated software like Sick Submitter.

2. Don't be greedy in link building and don't rush to rank, long term ranking takes time, patience and quality links, NOT 10,000 profile links. The Google algorithm has gotten smarter, build links slowly and look to quality and not quantity.

3. One of the best link building strategies that I can offer you is that it's better to get 2 premium links than 500 crappy links.

4. Write high quality content and promote it to get natural links as much as possible, this is the best of premium link building that has longevity and guarantees long term success. Commenting on related Comment Luv Blogs is a safe and easy way to give your content exposure, which brings traffic, which brings links when other bloggers like what they read.

5. Google has confirmed that they will be using their own social site ratings, Google +1, as part of the ranking algorithm for SERP rankings, so make sure your content lives up to getting a +1 rating. The best WordPress Google +1 plugin is here.

6. Get links for ALL the pages on your site, NOT just the home page. Many people get all their links to the home page only, another red flag. In reality, you can rank the home page without a bunch of links because as you get links to your inner pages it naturally helps with the ranking of all the pages on your site, including the home page.

7. Build links slowly for new sites. Start with just a few and then let it age for a month or so before getting more and keep adding quality content.

8. Avoid crappy low quality links and especially when your site is new. Try to build a solid link profile with strong links, like contextual links from related sites as much as possible before getting crappy links, like a lot of articles, blog comments, irrelevant site links...etc. New sites do not have any trustworthy quality signals, such as quality links  and that is that's when low quality links can hurt the most.

9. Do reciprocal links correctly. Reciprocal links happen online and in in of themselves they are not bad, I have many here, posts I have written and linked within my posts to a blogger's content that I loved and then they linked to something I wrote, that's fine and happens naturally online all the time, but having pages of reciprocal links is a link scheme and totally useless and dangerous in 2011 link building.

10. The same as above goes for placing hundreds of reciprocal links on blogrolls, another big red flag that screams low quality, spammy link schemes or paid links for both the linker and the linkee!

11. Some of the most premium links and especially for new sites are Press Releases and since those spread around the Internet, that could bring traffic that will love your content and link to you, check out List of 41 Press Releases and How To Write Press Releases.

12. NEVER EVER use link pages, those are those web pages usually named something really stupidly obvious, like domain.com/links or worse yet domain.com/link-partners and the page is full of nothing but reciprocal links to other sites that have your site on their "links page". This is not only no where near premium link building, it's an obvious link scheme only meant to manipulate search engines into rankings. They are worthless, completely outdated and dangerous because it screams link scheme and can you sent to the Google black hole! If you have a links page, DELETE IT NOW!!!

13. Effective link building strategies include links from a diverse set of IP's.

14. Low quality directories are bad news, and especially those that advertise "Improve Your Rankings" "SEO Friendly", "Paid Link Gets DoFollow and Higher Placement", all bad news, useless links that carry no weight or any valuable link juice and can be especially negative for new sites with no trust rank.

15. Vary your anchor texts, vary, vary vary and vary again. Natural link profiles do not have the same exact keyword phrases for their anchors that site owners are targeting for each link, people do not link out that perfectly naturally. Basically each page, especially home page, should have no more than a 25% occurrence of the same anchor.  If every link in your profile has the exact same anchor for each page, then you can be sure to raise red flags and get a quick penalty from Google, like the -50, which lands every singe page of your site on Page 5 or lower, and there they will stay for months and years. Use the URL as the anchor, use click here, this site, add other words to the anchor to go along with the main keywords.

16. Don't do link bombs (yes, 1000 links in one day is a bomb, even 500, even 300).

17. Build links slowly - Quality over Quantity (did I say that all ready?)

18. Make friends with bloggers in your niche and network.

19. One of the best link building strategies is to link out to others. Create "Best Of" "Top 100" type posts referencing other's people work and sites in your niche, when you give other people links you get links back. Linking out is good, contrary to some myths out there, you don't have to hoard your link juice, and worry about losing traffic (if you're worried you probably don't have much anyway), and no linking out to good sites and content won't hurt your rankings, it actually helps, learn more at Linking Out From Your Website.

20. Track rankings to see the effectiveness of your link building strategies. Depending on the competitiveness of your keywords, you can sometimes rank with very few links.

21. Track your link building and anchors over time, Majestic SEO is free and works great.

22. Get both nofollow and dofollow links. Learn more at NoFollow vs Dofollow Links - Why You Need Both.

23. Checking out and duplicating competitor's links is a great link building strategy. Use Open Site Explorer and then try to get the same.

24. Contextual links are best - These are links that are within a related piece of text. Even better when the entire site is in a related niche.

25. Don't waste time on useless links that link directly to your money sites (Forum profile links, ie: Angela's links, directories, crappy article sites, ie: content farms)

28. Write content that is link worthy, this is the absolute best way to get a natural link profile. 29. Guest posting is premium link building at its best. You would be surprised how many authority, "high end" blogs and sites accept guest posts, Mashable does, and many others as well. 30. STAY AWAY from Themes sponsorships. This is a link scheme where you pay to get links to your sites placed in WordPress theme footers, and users of those themes cannot remove the links, which can result in thousands of useless and harmful toge links and  Google has penalized sites time and time again for doing this, it's an obvious link scheme, useless and harmful to your sites.

31. Getting footer links in general is NOT premium link building. They are old news and scream PAID links!

32. Do not solicit hundreds of blogroll links (unless they are freely given of course).

33. Avoid home page, footer, blogroll, contextual or any kind of links on irrelevant sites. When Google sees a link to Weight Loss on a Laptop site that's a red flag for paid link.

34. Another solid link building strategy is to run a good contest with great prizes. Most readers will link to spread the word.

35. Be careful using link wheels. Link wheel link building strategies can be effective when done properly, which most people don't know how, and so then they become dangerous because they can be easily detected and viewed as link farms, which is against Google TOS.

36. Internal link building within your own site is an essential link building strategy. Placing links to your own content on relevant posts and with relevant anchor text goes a long way for SEO. Learn more at Internal Link Building for On Site SEO.

37. Build Links To Your Links - 2nd and 3rd tier links are very effective for getting a powerful flow of juice to your money or primary sites. Build links to your articles, and social media links, get links for the content that links to you. Example: You get a link on a blog in a post + Write an article on GoArticles and Ezine Articles linking to that post + Submit that article to social media links.  This is where many find profile links to be effective, they use them to boost links to their sites, instead of linking directly to their money or primary sites.

38. Retweet other bloggers work, they notice that you notice and that creates networking that can go beyond Twitter.

39. Ask for links! This is not something I spend a lot of time doing, but probably should, it's tedious work, but many top SEO's spend their days doing this type of premium link building. Most emails I get for this, and I get many each day are useless, because theses people send generic crap reciprocal link page requests, but sometimes some good ones come through and usually these emails contain some good content the webmaster has written and feels the a link on my site to that content is useful and relevant to my readers, so if you have linkable content that's one approach. 40. Get an interview from someone important in your niche. This will usually earn you a backlink to that interview on their sites and others.

41. If you are going to comment on dofollow blogs make sure and check out the comment section for blogger moderation of comments. If you see a bunch of casino, sex or viagra author comment links that are being followed, don't leave your link there, that's a bad neighborhood!

42. Link baits are still great link building strategies, learn more here.

43. YouTube is a great source of traffic (and the link in the profile is dofollow), but more important than that link is the fact that YouTube and other video submissions sites are loaded with viewers. You can get a lot of exposure, traffic back to your sites and if your content is top notch - backlinks!!!!!!

44. AVOID 3 way link exchanges, and especially with low quality sites. This is another old school link scheme that can cause issues with Google because if you do a lot of these then a link farm schema can be easily detected. I get lots of email requests for these and it's always shady because the webmaster offers some crappy sites for exchange. Usually these are sites created just for this purpose, they have no real value, they are not updated or promoted correctly so the link itself  is pretty useless, the last email listed a site that had 215 blogroll links all ready, all irrelevant by the way. What a scam, you give them a link on your high end site and they give you a link on crap?!??!

45.  Be careful if you're buying links. It's not worth the penalty, especially avoid buying links at Digital Point Forums, many sites there are so obviously selling links and Google will detect them sooner than later.

46. Convert your best articles to PDF format and submit to the bestPDF directories like Scribd and Docstoc. This let's you show off your work, and can get traffic which can lead to more links.

47. The final link building strategy for premium link building is that link relevance is more important than link quantity! Yes, it's better to get 5 links on relevant sites than 50 links from irrelevant sites.

I tried to cover the most popular niches for blogs with Comment Luv plugin enabled, if I missed your niche please search at the official Comment Luv Website. Make sure to register your Comment Luv blogs over there as well!

I updated to WP 2.7 and had nothing but problems. The most important of which was the NoFollow Free plug-in stopped working and all my comments went No-Follow. I went to the forums and saw that many were having worse problems than me. I have since gone back to 2.6 until the bugs are worked out.

The good news is that developer is working on the 2.7 upgrade of that plug-in now.

Anyway, I suggest you guys think before your upgrade, I am not saying that it's bad, I just wish I had waited for everyone to catch up and for them to work out the bugs, instead of jumping on it and wasting 3 days trying to deal with the issues, not to mention the stress!

Here is my list of must have WordPress plug-ins for SEO, visitors, subscribers and for admin user friendliness.

Search Engine Optimization Plug-Ins

1. All-In-One SEO Pack - A must have for optimizing your post pages for relevant keywords. This will give you the Meta Tags module for customizing meta tags for every post, as discussed in Website Traffic that Converts.

Make sure to check the box - Overwrite Titles - in the settings of the plug-in. This will ensure that your site wide Title and description does not automatically get inserted into all your posts. Then use the All-In-One SEO module that will appear below each post so you can customize the Title Tags, Description and keywords of the Meta Tag.

It also provides some other great features. One, is if you have your keywords in your blog title you can set the plug-in to automatically have all your posts and blog pages have the format: Post Title | Blog Title in the Title/Meta Tag. This really helps for on-site SEO.

If you don't have your keywords in the blog title, you can just enter you blog keywords instead: Post Title | Keywords

2. SEO Smart Links - Internal link building plug-in. It is very important to have a comprehensive deep internal link building strategy on all your blog pages, as discussed in Internal Link Building for On-Site SEO. Automatically inserts your desired url's with related keywords of your choosing within your blog posts.

3. Google XML Sitemaps - Google says: "Submit a Sitemap to tell Google about pages on your site we might not otherwise discover."

Google needs that sitemap in an XMl format and this plug-in creates it for you, and has lots of customization settings.

4. Home Page Excerpts - For those that want to avoid the duplicate content penalty and still have their entire posts on the home page.

It is much more search engine friendly to have excerpts of your posts on the home page rather than your recent post in its entirety as some bloggers have. But, if you must this plug-in makes blogs that use full posts on the homepage more search engine friendly. It also gives flexibility to people that want to use both full posts and excerpts on the homepage.

The Google duplicate content penalty applies here and that is why the content of your posts should be displayed fully in one location only, and that is the single post page. The Homepage Excerpts plug-in can be used to reduce this duplicate content while keeping full posts on the homepage.

5. Excerpt Editor - This one allows for a lot more customization of excerpts all over the blog and provides a convenient place for creating and editing excerpts. It can also add custom excerpts for blog pages, which is only possible with a plug-in.

• Append excerpts from the most recent posts or from the sub-pages to all Posts and/or Pages.
• Set pages and posts that you want to eliminate from showing excerpts
• Replace the content with excerpts on the Home page, all archive pages and/or all tags pages.
• Set number of words in excerpts & customize the actual excerpt manually, lots more...

6. Google Positioner - Track your blog for your keywords in Google.

• Track relevant keywords that you want to rank for with a rising curve
• Track your rank for those keywords
• Add regional settings
• Add competitors to compare, lots more...

Visitor Retention and Bounce Rate Plug-Ins

7. Dagon Sitemap Generator - Sitemap for your visitors and NOT for Google. It is always good to have a sitemap on your websites for visitors to have another option for navigating through your content. This is especially crucial for blogs since navigation can be difficult.

This is a great sitemap generator and allows for lots of customization, you can see mine at here. Just create your sitemap and then link to it on your blog, I have mine as a page in the top nav bar.

• Support for multi-level categories and pages
• Category/page exclusion
• Multiple-page generation with navigation
• Customize listing order
• Show comment counts and/or post dates, much more...

8. Similar Posts - Another navigation and SEO must have. Automatically pulls your related posts based on current post content and lists them at the bottom of each post. Engages visitors to stay longer and provides a deep linked blog, which Google loves. Also, allows you to fully customize how posts are generated, like based on tags, categories, keywords etc...

9. Collapsing Categories - This one is great and really improves the navigation and accessibility to your posts. Forms a collapsable set of post links in the sidebar under their respective categories, allows you to select the icon and order of post listings, allows you add RSS link for categories and much more.

When a visitor clicks on the icon the category will collapse and show all blog posts within that category, as opposed to the WordPress default that takes the visitor to a page of excerpts when they click on a category and often does not list ever post.

Increase Subscriber Count Plug-Ins

10. FeedBurner FeedSmith - This plug-in redirects ALL possible ways that readers can subscribe to your blog and sends them to your Feedburner count, can cause a significant count increase for that Feedburner subscriber widget and allows you to track every possible subscriber.

11. What Would Seth Godin Do - Nifty plug-in that inserts a fully customizable message based on a cookie only to first time visitors to your blog asking them to subscribe or do whatever you want.

12. Comment Relish - This plug-in can help increase your readership and RSS subscription rate by simply sending a short ‘thank you’ message to users when they first comment on your blog. Fully customizable message, where you can solicit, beg and bribe a subscription from that commenter

Admin Plug-Ins

13. Better Comments Manager - Do you hate having to go to each of your posts to reply to your readers comments? I do!!

This one allows you to reply to your comments from within admin panel without having to visit the site. Plus many other admin user-friendly features, for your admin comments section. Check it out at the link and see screenshots and all the great features.

14. Broken Link Checker - Checks your blog for broken links and notifies you in the dashboard. Very user-friendly and has many settings for personalized options.

15. WordPress Data Backup - Truly a must have, DON'T wait till you get hacked or lose your content some way, believe me you don't want to live with the regret!

This plug-in has many options for delivery of your backup file and how often you want back up done. I have mine set to daily, because you never know when you will lose your data!

Hello everyone, hope all is well, sorry for no posts in a few days, have not been feeling well, I think it's the sudden cold up here in the California mountains where I live. Will have our first snow on Monday, should be snowed in for about three days ...gotta love it.

Here are 7 more Do-Follow social sites for you link building efforts, and a couple of no-follows worth checking out. I have added these to the master list of 65+ Social Bookmark Sites.

Qassia - Do-Follow. PR5. This one is really great, 100% do-follow. At Qassia you have to add articles or snippets of content, they call "Intel" on any topic and at the end of each of those you get a do-follow backlink to the site of your choice. You can add your pre-published articles or original stuff and earn Qassia dollars. The content can even be a couple of paragraphs, nothing fancy is required.

Also,  you can "Screen Intel" on member's articles with a simple rating system and earn Qassia dollars that are used to make your content rank higher and get more link juice.

In the end you can distribute your Qassia dollars between all your sites depending on those websites or blogs you may want more link juice.

Megite - Do-Follow and easy submission.

Spotback - Do-Follow. PR5 - Spotback has cool widgets to add to your blogs and websites for rating your content, simple little star boxes (see mine at the end of the post). Readers do not have to leave your blog, once they rate it, it automatically goes to Spotback, COOL!! Also mouse over it and checkout how you can add tags without leaving the blog. Spotback has several options for widgets, as well as a WordPress plug-in.

Launch Feed - Do-Follow. PR4, no anchor text, just URL. This one only allows you to submit your site once, so you can pick home page or a subpage.

Go Zoof -  Do-Follow - PR4 - This is one is good and is 100% do-follow.

Really Awesome People - Do Follow. PR2 @ $5 per link with your own custom personal page. This is Jim Kukral's creation, not sure if it's worth $5 but check it out and decide for yourselves.

No Follow Social Sites Worth Considering

Blogengage - No-Follow - PR3 - Blogengage is new but has some good traffic. Brian, the webmaster has also just added Adsense revenue sharing program, I think it's 50/50. This one is easy submit with the browser bookmark button.

Wobblog - No Follow, but lots of traffic there, can give good exposure for your websites and blogs.

Kaboodle - No Follow. PR6.  Shopping site links, lots of members, especially female, good traffic!

Earners Club - No Follow - IM/AM content only, still PR0 it's fairly new but has some good traffic, brought me a few visitors to this blog.

2 Considerations for No-Follow Social Sites

1. Traffic - Some of them can bring lots of traffic like Stumble and Reddit and others are just a waste of time. This is something you have to determine on your own by testing, because some niches do really well on social sites and some just don't!

2. Yahoo and MSN ignore the no-follow tag and so they are still worthwhile for backlinks with those search engines.

As a rule, I always submit to do-follow social sites for the links, but the no-follow sites I usually submit to on a case-by-case basis after some testing.

One of the most important parts of a good affiliate marketing website is original and valuable written content. I do not want to rehash the same old argument about the importance of content, I will stick with my stand that good content is:

1. Good for your visitors
2. Good for ranking in serps (search engine rank pages)
3. Good as a keyword density tool
4. Good for Internal linking and on-site SEO
5. Good to distinguish your sites from:
   a) The same links and content that the merchants you are affiliating for have on their sites.
   b) Other similar affiliate websites, like BANS, where many other webmasters are using them.

It is very true that thin affiliate marketing websites do not do well in search engines. Here is a quote from Google Webmaster Help Center

"Our Webmaster Guidelines advise you to create websites with original content that adds value for users. This is particularly important for sites that participate in affiliate programs. Typically, affiliate websites feature product descriptions that appear on sites across that affiliate network. As a result, sites featuring mainly content from affiliate networks can suffer in Google's search rankings, because they do not have unique content that differentiates them from other sites on the web. Unique, relevant content provides value to users and distinguishes your site from other affiliates, making it more likely to rank well in Google search result pages."

Content along with a good link building strategy is the formula to get your sites to rank high in the SERPS.

But, content can be one of the most daunting tasks for affiliate marketers, especially if you have a store type site, it is hard to find ideas for written content, sometimes you really have to think outside the box. So here are some ideas for website content:

Website Content Ideas:

1. PLR - PLR stands for Private Label Rights. These are articles you buy or sometimes can get for free and use as you wish, including publish it verbatim as your own. Do not just copy and paste PLR stuff into your website, much better to tweak and rewrite them a little to make them more unique and original because you never know how many other people have bought the same article.

1. All Private Label Content - Good one. Very Cheap and lots of subjects.
2. PLR Mini Mart - Very Cheap article packs on tons of topics.
3. thePLRarticles.com - Not too much of a selection but cheap.
4. Constant Content - Varies from cheap to REALLY expensive.

2. Guides and Tutorials - Every type of product can be fitted to some kind of guide or tutorial and more than one. Even if you are selling clothes you can have a page on size charts, types of clothing for different shapes, hottest fashion trends, buying guide, etc...

3. How-To - How-to's are great. Just use your imagination, a how-to can be created for just about anything.

4. Side Subjects - You can write about sub-subjects within your main one. For instance if you are selling CD's you can have pages about music artists, music industry. If selling furniture you can talk about home decorating, if selling cooking ware you can provide recipes etc.. the possibilities are endless.

5. Product Reviews - If you don't know the product do some research and compile something good.

6. Current Trends/Events related to the niche.

7. Trivia - Trivia is a popular subject and easy to create.

8. Interesting Facts and/or Myths - related to the niche/subject.

9. Histories - on the products or subject of your site.

10. What Returning Visitor's Have To Say - make it up if you have to.

11. About Pages - add a page detailing what your site is about.

12. Biographies - good one if relevant to your niche.

13. Advantages of Buying Online - This one is universal and applies to any niche and or product. Customize it to your subject, write about the savings of online shopping vs. retail, good opportunity for keywords.

14. Lists - People love lists and they are easy to create. IE: Best, Worst, Most Bought, Most Popular, Most Read, Least Liked, 10 ways to..., 5 Methods for..., 8 Types of, etc... the possibilities here are endless.

15. Feeds - A great way to add regularly updated content to your website. These services provide free news widgets and content feeds that will create the most current news on your sites related to your subject/niche.

3. Spring Widgets - Creates cool widgets for news feeds and allows you to create a news widget from any feed or blog URL you enter, even this one

16. Content Generating Software - Frank at OP Tempo has created Blog Content Wizard, a software that creates content automatically based on keywords you enter and not just for blogs. I have not tried it but it looks promising.

Ways to Find Ideas for Website Content

1. Research keywords to find content ideas. When you enter the main product/niche keyword of your sites, phrases like how-to whatever, best whatever... will come up for what people are searching for within that niche.

Also, remember to research the best keywords for those content pages as you want them to rank for popular keywords and this way you will be all over the SERPS and get lots more targeted traffic. Learn more at 6 Step Checklist for On-Site SEO.

2. Visit your competitors sites to get inspirations for content and especially the top gun sites (do not copy).

3. Look at what popular bloggers in your niche are talking about.

4. Visit article sites to get ideas from existing articles. Ezine Articles, Article Dashboard, Article Factory, Article City and Buzzle are some good ones. (Do not copy articles, this is a big nono)

While most of my focus here is Internet marketing and affiliate marketing, I have picked up a trick or two about blogging and blog promotion. Unlike website promotion, it is actually easier to promote blogs.

If you are running a blog then you probably know that every time you post content the blog pings feed services out there and that helps spread your content and gets the blog exposure.

The WordPress default list for pinging is pretty pathetic, I think when I started this blog there was only one on the list. On the advice of more experienced bloggers I have added many more over the months, which provides much more exposure and I wanted to give all my blogger readers a list of the services I ping.

One of the biggest Internet Marketing Strategies is Search Engine Optimization, which is the the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a website from search engines via "natural" search results for targeted keywords.

The earlier a site is presented in the search results for respective keywords or the higher it "ranks" in the SERPS (search engine page results) the more searchers will visit that site. One of the best SEO tips is to make sure that several on-site factors are correct.

Search Engine Optimization for SEPRS

On-site search engine optimization involves optimizing your site for the keywords that you are trying to rank for in the SERPS. Use this checklist to optimize your on-site search engine optimization and let the search engines know which keywords your are targeting on your site.

1. Meta Tags

• Customize for each page of your website. See the full guide here: Simple Guide to Meta Tag Optimization.

2. Image Alt Tags

• Your images should be described via ALT tags with the keywords you are targeting. The search engines cannot read images when they crawl your site and so the title tag is essential in relating your images with the keywords you are targeting.

3. Sitemap

• Sitemaps are essential to present the organization of your site to search engines and it allows them to find and index your internal pages. The sitemap presents the complete internal structure of your website and gives search engines instant access to all the pages within it.

• Submit your site map to Google when you submit your url from within your Google Webmaster Tools Account and also link to the sitemap from your home page as it also helps your visitors navigate.

4. Robots.txt

• This file allows for control of how the search engines crawl and index your site. For example, you do not want to index admin, scripts or theme sections of your website. Also, to avoid duplicate content issues, you want to deny the search engines access to duplicate pages within your site, like print versions of sub pages. 5. Home Page

• Domain. You don't have to have your keywords in your domain, but if you don't you will have to increase your external links by the thousands to compensate.
  

• Site title. You should have your website main keywords in the title of your site. For example, if the main keyword is real estate then the title can be "Real Estate World", "Real Estate Made Easy" or "Real Estate Concepts" etc. This will also greatly help when you work on your off-site Search Engine Optimization link building, because when other sites link to you they will likely use your site name in the anchor text.
  

• Home Page Keyword Density. You want your website's main keywords to appear at least 6 or 7 times throughout the home page. For example, in the title, headline, welcome message and footer.
  

• Footer Link. Link back to your home page with your main keywords in the footer, and of course the site name will always be in the footer, for example, © Real Estate Concepts.

6. Sub Pages and Content

• Make sure to research the best keywords for each of you website sub-pages because you want each of your pages to rank for different keywords, not just the home page, and this way you will be all over the SERPS!

• Titles of Sub-Pages. Use keywords in titles and in the subheaders within the content for new paragraphs.

Title tag attributes:
h1 - most important; h2 - second in importance
h3 - third in importance

Examples:
How to Buy Real Estate - Main page title (h1)
How to Buy Real Estate in Michigan - Sub header paragraph title (h2 or h3)
How to Buy Cheap Real Estate - Sub Header paragraph title (h2 or h3)

• Sub-Page URL's. Sub-page url's should be the titles of the pages and without a lot of characters, the best is to use dashes between the words.

• Written Content. You must have at least four or five paragraphs of informative text on the sub-pages of your website, preferably more than 275 words, absolute minimum of 100. Be sure to include the keywords in the first paragraph of text. Content is not only crucial for search engine optimization but for your visitors as well.

• Keyword Density for Content. Keyword density is crucial for search engine optimization. 5% is excellent and will not risk a spam flag. This means that if you have a content page with 500 words then 25 of them should be some variation of the keyword your are trying to rank for on that page.

Search Engine Optimization seems to be foremost on everyone's mind. And, of course, this is an important aspect of Internet Marketing and should be given its rightful dues. However, you cannot rely solely on Search Engines for your website traffic.

The primary goal of Search Engine Optimization is to rank on Page 1 of Google. But, Page 1 is a long term goal, it is not an overnight reward.

So, while working on SEO, here are 14 ways to increase website traffic NOW and good traffic that will lead to conversions and sales.

1. Online Classifieds - These sites are great because people are there looking for something, so the chances for conversions greatly increase.

• US Free Ads - Very high traffic site, lots of shoppers. Plus, Google loves US Free and the ads rank high in SERPS. Make sure to use good keywords in the title and H1 headers within the add, so when your ads rank high in SERPS they will rank for those keywords.

2. Relevant Forums - There is no quicker or more targeted traffic than through a signature link in related forums. Just search Google for "your niche forum." Make sure that they allow a link to your site in the signature, sometimes they make you wait until you have a certain amount of posts. Don't spam, leave helpful comments and interact with the community.

3. Blog Comments - Commenting on blogs can generate lots of traffic, especially high traffic blogs. Don't spam, read the blog post and leave relevant and meaningful comments, often you learn a lot of valuable information from veteran bloggers.

Sometimes bloggers are scared of competition, and will delete comments from what they consider to be rival sites, but don't worry, not all of them are sissy's, just keep at it and soon you will have a list of blogs that welcome your participation. Search Google "your niche blog"

6. Build a Squidoo Lens - How-To Squidoo - Steps to Building the Best Lens for Website Promotion

7. Craigslist - Place an add on Craigslist.org, they have huge traffic and lots of people looking for stuff. If you build an interesting add with a captivating headline you can increase your website traffic. Make sure to check the TOS of your affiliate programs some of them prohibit using Craigslist, like eBay for example.

8. Link Referral - Linkreferral.com is a free service and I always get an increase in good traffic from them and have gotten several sales on my sites, as well as several subscribers to this blog through them.

Basically it is a traffic exchange program that's backlink to your site is also counted heavily by Google. Unlike other useless traffic exchanges, here the members review each other's sites, and pick which sites they want to view via selected categories for which they have a genuine interest.

9. Put a Sign on the Back of Your Car - This really works, especially if you spend time sitting in traffic .

10. Email everyone you know and send them links to your sites and ask them to spread the word to their friends and family. Also let your neighbors know about your site and make some flyers announcing your website and drop them off at your neighbors doors.

11. Viral Marketing - Write a great e-book on a subject within your niche. A good e-book can spread like wildfire with a link to your site embedded in the content.

12. Advertise - Lots of high traffic sites and blogs offer advertising space, if it is cost effective for you this can greatly increase your website traffic.

13. Online Directories - This is not the biggest traffic source, but since you have to do it for your SEO link building anyway...

Submitting to directories can be a tedious process, I use Directory Submission Service to submit for me, it's really cheap and saves me lots of time.

14. Pay for a Website Review - There are sites where you can register your websites and connect with bloggers that do paid reviews. Prices vary (see more details below). Usually the higher the traffic and Page Rank of the blog the higher the cost of the review.

Before you do this, be really sure that your website will hold up to the scrutiny of a review. Even though these bloggers get paid to review your site, they are usually really honest about their findings and the networks that I recommend below require high levels of transparency.

Paid Review Blog Networks:

• Sponsored Reviews - This is my favorite! Choose bloggers by the "Sponsored Reviews Score", based on Alexa, PR and traffic. With the other networks you can either search for bloggers and purchase reviews, or post an opportunity and let bloggers find you, this is the only network that allows you to do both. Quality blogs that are at least 3 months old and meet strict requirements. Price: Negotiable via Bidding System.




• Pay Per Post - Another one of my favorites! One of the most popular paid to blog networks, boasting a network of over 17,000 bloggers. You cannot pick individual blogs that will review your site, however, they do provide several efficient sorting methods, like Page Rank, Alexa, Niche/Content. Price: Calculated by the settings you choose, the higher the page rank and traffic the higher the cost for the review, minimum cost is $5 and a review from a higher end blog can run upto $35.




• Blogvertise - Has lots of categories for blogs and allows advertisers to choose blogs that will review their sites by relevance to their niche. Advanced controls offer sorting by PageRank, Alexa score, and other filters. Price will vary dependent on the type of advertising, and the quality of the blog doing the review. Price Range: $8-$50 per review.




• Smorty - Also uses a ranking system that is actually based on 20 different factors, not just PR and traffic, so they boast "no low quality blogs" in their network. Price: Bid for Reviews, minimum bid: $10, obviously the higher you bid the better set of bloggers you will attract.




• Review Me - Features high-end bloggers, and while pricey will expose your website to high traffic blogs that can greatly increase website traffic. Pick the blogs you want with the "Review Me Score" which is based on reach, alexa, traffic, and citations. Scrutinize and pick carefully the bloggers you want for reviews, for the price you want to pick the most relevant, highest traffic blog you can afford. Price: $40 - $500 per review.




• Blogitive - All blogs doing reviews are at least 3 months old and update consistently, this site offers a very hands-on customer service. Price: Varies, I believe they start around $5 per review.
