Video has become an essential part of the Internet. Many bloggers use video instead of written posts, videos are used as instructional aids, on sales pages and of course, since YouTube became so huge, using video as a promotional and link building tool for websites is one of the fundamental aspects of SEO. Millions of people visit YouTube everyday, as well as other video submission sites, the video’s are included in most every SERP result in Google and once again if you make sure to properly SEO optimize each video submission with keywords, tags and a savvy researched keyword title, you will be amazed at the places it will show up over a short period of time making video just one more point of entry to your websites.

It looks like the merge between Yahoo and Bing is upon us. This month and through September Bing will begin serving all Yahoo search results, as previously discussed at Bing Teams up with Yahoo. Once this is completely finalized, then Bing is estimated to power about 30% of search queries worldwide, and that’s nothing to sneeze at.
It’s a good time to check your rankings in Bing and Yahoo and see where you stand. Usually, for my sites anyway, it is much easier to rank with Yahoo and Bing than Google, yet this is not a rule. One thing I know for sure is that Bing loves content, so add more to your thin sites, learn more at how to create and rank inner website pages. For on-site SEO, if you are optimizing for Google, then your fine with Bing as well.
Aaron Wall of SEO Book says:
Even though usage is lower, the user demographic for Bing is different to that of Google. Ask search marketers and you’ll get anecdotal evidence that Bing/Yahoo users don’t tend to be as web savvy as Google users, use the web less often, are more likely to click on ads, and are more likely to be involved in online shopping, whilst Google appeals more to researchers, webheads and geeks. If you’re engaged in web commerce, you need to be thinking about Bing.
Bing Webmaster Help Document Says:
Because of this new way of thinking about search, some webmasters might initially be concerned that the shortened primary organic listing in the new Bing SERP might render their SEO efforts as less effective. Instead, Bing makes it easier to compete for broad terms because it surfaces more categories automatically, increasing the number of results on the page and generating more relevant content.
Ranking in Bing – Key Points
Overall, the same elements that help with ranking in Google, will take of care of Bing as well.
1. On Site SEO
Title tags, descriptive and well targeted meta descriptions, image alt tags and unique, relevant and fresh content that is related to the site’s topics are all important for ranking in Bing.
2. Aged Domains
Bing seems to favor age of domain as a sign of authority.
3. Link Building
In my experience Bing counts a lot more links than Google, but they also favor links from relevant topic pages, not overall site themes, but the actual page the link is sitting on and how much it relates to the site it’s linking to.
Make sure to sign up and submit your sites to Bing Webmaster Tools as with Google Webmaster Tools you can see any issues that Bing has with your sites, and also I find that when I submit my websites to them they get indexed faster than letting their bots find it on their own.
And, be sure to check out Bing Webmaster Center Blog, there are lots of tips and posts about ranking in Bing. Also, check out Bing Webmaster Help – lots of information there too.

Well looks like Google is at it again, making changes to their algorithm, shaking things up and causing webmasters to pull their hair out. Two things have happened in the last few weeks, Google launched the Caffeine update which they have been working on for some time and also there is what is being called the Mayday update. (By the way, this is a typical action on the part of Google, they usually make major tweaks in the summer time, around May and June). These are two very distinct actions on the part of Google.
Caffeine
Caffeine has nothing to do with ranking, it is just the method in which data is being stored, retrieved from keyword searches and then displayed in SERPS.
Mayday
Mayday IS about ranking and is a search quality algorithm change, ( not manual) launched by the Google Search Quality team and impacts long tail traffic referrals that DOES change how sites are ranked in SERPS.
Basically if your long tail traffic referrals fell heavily in the SERPS, Google is telling you your site sucks….Thanks Google, we love you too!
Last week at Google I/O, Matt Cutts said – ”this is an algorithmic change in Google, looking for higher quality sites to surface for long tail queries. It went through vigorous testing and isn’t going to be rolled back.”
Check out the video regarding Mayday by Matt Cutts
MAYDAY and GETTING SENT TO THE GOOGLE BLACK HOLE
Mayday has significantly impacted long tail keyword searches and therefore, inner pages as opposed to having a widespread affect on home pages and many have lost their precious rankings for these queries in SERPS.
There has also been a lot of buzz about the especially negative affects of Mayday on e-commerce sites ( that link offers some real useable insight into the e-commerce issues with Mayday, thanks to Link Builder) losing rankings and SERP placements that have significantly impacted their earnings and bottom line.
Mayday Impacts
1. Pages in long tail keyword searches that do not have healthy link profiles and so do not hold enough “authority” in the eyes of Google
2. Thin pages, like product pages without any other significant added value
3. Pages that are several clicks away from the home page, hence ineffective heirarchy and overall site navigation
4. New and much stricter guidelines have been set by Google as to what qualifies as an “authority” and “useful” site for a particular search query and only those sites that do will now rank for those terms.
5. Likely most thin affiliate sites pages went down hard.
6. Evidently the long tail pages that got hit were ones without significant amounts of written original content, hence the product pages of ecommerce sites, that only had product listings.
7. The long tail search referrals were tweaked to impact sites lacking authority in Google’s eyes.
8. This is not a manual penalty – purely algorithmic
9. Metrics measuring the “quality” and “authority” of sites has been tweaked, tested and launched and this is a permanent change.
10. Has nothing to do with Caffeine
Now What?
Likely many of you have been impacted by this, and if you haven’t yet done so, I suggest you go and check your sites rankings and see what’s going on.
Most Important
I have a lot of sites, and a few were affected by Mayday, which of course means loss of traffic, and therefore money. For me, I see one common denominator, the sites that suffered were not authority sites in the eyes of Google, which I already knew but it has never been a problem before. And, good quality links to those sites were few and far between.

It looks like Google is on the lookout and actively banning MFA sites.
What is MFA
MFA stands for “Made for Adsense Sites.” And these are sites created for the sole purpose of making money with Adsense.
The Banning of MFA’s
There has been quite a bit of buzz of late that many Blogger blogs that were MFA’s have been getting completely deleted by Google and the Adsense accounts associated with those getting banned as well, or if the sites were self hosted there has been a a complete deindexing of these websites from the SERPS.
Best case scenario is some Adsense accounts were not completely banned, but the sites were from the index.
This recent rash of deindexing of MFA sites and bans all seem to come from a particular network of bloggers that followed an MFA model that was widely taught and blogged about on some popular make money online blogs. Many of these sites even used the exact same “minimalist” blog theme, Blogger blogs and duplicate layouts.
The end result is that only did the weak MFA sites get hit, so did some of the MMO bloggers that were blogging about these kinds of techniques got hit with some sort of penalty as well.
In reality, the “get rich quick” and the “easy” ways to make money online for beginners are very attractive to most newbies, and so of course, many jumped on the MFA bandwagon, which in turn attracted the attention of Google.
I don’t really want to get into the who’s and what’s, as the purpose of this post is not that, but to warn all of you to not waste time building crappy sites for the purpose of making money with Google Adsense.
Make Money Online with Adsense Properly and 6 Valuable Lessons We Can All Learn From This
1. Don’t Make Google Look Stupid
Look, it’s simple, monopoly or not, like it or not, Google is the cornerstone of any online business, they can make or break you, so play by their rules and follow their webmaster guidelines- it’s really that simple!
Google’s rules are really not so bad, all they want is quality for their customers the searcher, and if they are gonna pay you money for clicks then they have a right to dictate the kind of sites those ads are placed. Most any valuable ad network actually monitors and evaluates websites where their advertisers ads will be placed.
Google, has, does and always will protect their interests and market share as they should, and if you think they don’t monitor the popular MMO and IM blogs to see what kind of teachings and information is being spread then you live under a rock.
2. Use Adsense Wisely
Adsense can be a great income stream when used properly. It should be used to compliment the website as just one revenue stream, it should not be sole purpose of building the website, this is the hallmark of MFA’s.
This is actually true for any affiliate site as well, there has to be value for the traffic over and above the ads and affiliate links or else these type of thin affiliate sites will suffer in the Google SERPS or possibly get completely deindexed all together.
3. Don’t Waste Time
Don’t waste valuable time launching 100 crappy sites sites just to make money with Adsense. Provide value and quality to users and build good sites that will bring long term revenue and a solid business model that doesn’t possess the risk of getting banned and wasting months of hard work.
4. There are NO Real Long Term Get Rich Quick and Easy Schemes Online
This business takes work and a lot of it in order to see long term and permanent results of your labors. Taking shortcuts that can get you banned are never wise choices, they may work for a little while or even some time, but eventually they only lead to problems.
In reality, in the world of Internet Marketing and Making Money Online you get back what you put in, and while building 100 MFA sites with crappy links and no quality may take some work, it doesn’t compare to the real work of building quality sites that endure and bring revenue for years to come.
5. How To Get Your Sites Banned
If you really want to get your websites banned, then build a site that uses the same theme, republish a few articles on it from Ezine or Article Dashboard, add some Adsense ads and place them in a way that they overlap and block your site’s content: rinse and repeat a lot of times over and I guarantee that you will get your sites banned very quickly
.
6. Learn From Others – Don’t Make the Same Mistakes Yourself
I am now going to refer you to a very educational and comprehensive post from Ben, one blogger who was hit very hard with this Google MFA banning – I’ve had my last 4 months of work knocked out in an instant by Google – hundreds of sites completely deindexed last week .
It is a 4000 word synopsis on how NOT to make money online in 2010 and really hits home about the experiences of someone who within a day of reaching the $100 a day Adsense revenue mark had all his Adsense sites deindexed.
I appreciate Ben’s honesty and clarity as to what he learned, and I truly believe that some of the most valuable lessons in making money online and Internet marketing are learned from the negative experiences AND we can learn from others, like Ben and not have to suffer the same fate!

Google announced on Friday that they have officially incorporated site speed into their algorithm as a factor in rankings, see their blog post about it at Google Rankings and Site Speed, Matt Cutts elaborates more on this issue here.
All in all, site speed should always be our concern since slow loading pages drive visitors away, but now that it is definitely going to affect rankings we really need to check and monitor our site speed to be sure that they are at their optimal speed. While Google does confirm that site speed is not as important as the relevance of a page or other factors for rankings and that all in all they surmise that less than 1% of rankings will be affected by this you still ought to check your sites to make sure that they are loading quickly, again mainly for the traffic that comes through.
It’s a fact that website speed can have a big impact on conversions and overall site ROI, all other factors being equal simply because you keep visitors longer on your site. Most Internet users are instant gratification junkies, they want to zip through pages, and not wait around while your site is trying to load. And statistics show that visitors tend to stay on a site longer when it loads quickly and overall provides them with optimal performance.

Looks like Google has done another page rank update, so check all your sites. Looks like this PR update is pretty accurate at least for my sites. Most of my new ones went from 0 to 1 and a couple from 2 to 3. This blog still remains a 0, since it went from PR3 to 0 several months ago, not sure why, but as long as it still ranks for many keywords and is getting new subscribers I don’t much care.
Though there had been rumors that Google will be doing away with Page Rank all together, and Google has said that PR matters very little in the grand scheme of things, looks like it is still active and being updated, usually at 3 month intervals.
Again, as always I am not too concerned with PR as ranking is more important and many times you will see PR0 sites outrank PR1+ sites. For those who want to sell advertising on their sites PR is still a factor as advertisers look for that as one indicator of quality and so a higher PR can yield higher prices for ad space.
So, how did you guys do in this PR update?

If you’re goal is to make money online free, then inevitably you realize that you need more than one site, which many of us all ready have. Managing a wide array of websites is difficult and can get pretty crazy, since we are usually working alone in our online business ventures and do not have a team or marketers on hand, or even a secretary.
As I have said several times, I often wish I could clone myself
Because of this reality, it is crucial to work smarter and not harder!
WordPress and Blogging Versus Building Money Sites
WordPress is a great CMS (content management platform), referred to as blogging software, but it can be used to build any kind of sites, not just those for the traditional purpose of blogging, and that includes making multiple money sites for free. Traditional blogging is a much more personal endeavor that is mostly about connecting with readers and attending to subscribers. It is a social entity.
A blog can be about information, education, flagship for a particular niche or even just a personal life blog, whatever the topic, most bloggers “care” a lot of their audience versus the money sites where the goal is have them click on Adsense, or to perform whatever action is needed to make money.
While bloggers will make money, you don’t have to be a traditional blogger to make money online, in fact the two venues are quite different. Most traditional bloggers want to be famous in their niche, and blogging is essentially a social entity on the web, while real Internet marketers could care less, we just want cash,
and in reality, if you want to make money online for free using WordPress is a great option.
And,
WordPress software is an easy and very user-friendly platform to build niche sites quickly and easily for the purpose of making money online. Using WordPress over static website software is a much better alternative, as it is easy to create, update and promote content virally in WordPress than other website software and it is a great alternative to make money online for free.
So,
Since most marketers will have a multitude of money sites, as opposed to bloggers who usually focus on one blog, it is important to be able to build and launch these money sites quickly as time is always an issue and then get on with the all important promotion of those sites.
In this post, I am referring to using WordPress as simply a platform to build numerous money sites quickly in order to make money online in an efficient and time saving manner, and NOT necessarily for the traditional blogging venue as described above, all though the two can overlap and most of these tips can be used to build traditional blogs quickly as well.
7 Tips to Build and Launch Multiple WordPress Money Blogs Quickly
1. Quickly Adding WordPress Platform to Domains
Use cPanel in your hosting account to add WordPress to your domain. All cPanels have automatic upload either via Fantastico or just named WordPress. Takes 1 minute to upload all the necessary files to begin building your money site. This can also be done manually, but who needs that when it can be done in minutes automatically and correctly, so no files are forgotten.
2. Familiar WordPress Themes
After some experience with WordPress, most everyone has a favorite theme, at least I do. This is the theme that you know, you have played with it, maybe gone into the Editor files and know how to edit the PHP files, and CSS. If you don’t I suggest that you find one, or maybe two and learn them well.
This is the theme that is best used for the money sites and to make money online for free, as it will become a breeze to update the site and edit and style it according to specific site needs.
Also, always use professional themes and layouts that are pleasing to the eye and are not broken in some way, where for example Adsense is overlapping onto content, LOOKS REALLY LAME and will not aid you to make more money online.
3. Easy Plugin Install Option for Multiple Sites
As with themes there are standard plugins that we all use and need on all of our WordPress domains.
Some of mine are
All-In-One SEO, WordPress Automatic Database Backup, Google XML Sitemaps (sitemaps for Google), Dagon Design Sitemaps (sitemaps for visitors), Home Page Excerpts, WP-Cache, Similar Posts, Collapsing Categories and Akismet.
Yours maybe different.
To easily manage multiple site plugins, use your cPanel hosting File Manager
You don’t have to upload the plugins one by one to each of your money sites WordPress blogs.
Go to your File Manager in cPanel of your hosting and copy the files from an existing site that has the same plugins. You can just copy over the files an existing domain’s Plugins folder to another.
Takes just a few minutes. Then activate them in WordPress Admin.
By the way, you can do the same with other standard files, like Robots.txt, Disclaimers and Terms and Privacy Policies. Then just edit the site details and url’s from the cPanel file manager.
4. WordPress Admin Setting
Once the theme and plugins are uploaded, I can quickly go through the Settings in Admin Dashboard of WordPress and set it up the same way I always do, when you’ve done it several times, it’s a breeze because you know the interface so well. This includes, setting up sidebar widgets, footer links and other stuff.
5. Content Shortcuts
The content quality level for money sites is not necessarily as important as that for the “blogging” or flagship sites. It really isn’t. The focus is to make money and not rivet readers (unless you have a review type site where you really want to pursuade someone to buy a product) the focus is monetization.
And, in order to make that money online and for free you want to target the correct longtails for as many inner pages as possible to get the most possible free search engine traffic to that site, as search traffic buys. If you need to learn more about accurate keyword research, then please visit this guide Step-By-Step Keyword Research.
For websites that you build to make money online you want someone to leave your site using an available form of monetazation, Adsense click, Banner click, or any other type of adds that you have, so Ad placement is crucial.
I am not saying to write crap…but do not worry so much about it. The most crucial aspect of content pages on money niche sites is keyword research because along with WordPress, which is a free software, that search traffic is also free, and so you will be making money online for free.
Find good longtails and write posts about those, it’s the best way to get a long term stream of that previous search engine traffic. More details on that here: Higher Rankings with Proper Keyword Reasearch.
Time Saving Keyword Research
Don’t over think it.
Use Free SEO Book KW Tool, search the main niche keywords of the site and note all the long tail results.
Then, Google, allintitle:”KW” to see the competition, for those longtails.
Crunch The Numbers:
a. Search numbers can be low for inner pages, as long as some exist.
b. Competition, I go for under 20,000 and 1st page of SERPS does not have more than 3 PR3+ pages (usually longtails have fairly low competition)
It should take less than an hour to get a list of several good longtails to target for content pages.
Then you can start creating some posts that target those longtails, usually 5 pages of inner content are enough to start with as you will want to update on a regular basis.
Content Tips To Manage Multiple Sites
Golden rule for content – Nauseatingly long posts work best!
If you want to make money online for free then you need that search traffic and 800+ word content pages on money sites attract search engines, and allow for appropriate keyword targeting, NOT stuffing, but targeting, as a 800 + word page will naturally mention them without needing to over do it. Also, because these are money sites, you want to have more content than affiliate pages or links, especially with a new site, so those very long posts really boost favoritism from Google because they add value.
In reality, if you have several money sites writing these kinds of long pages by hand will be extremely time consuming and draining.
Save Time with Quality PLR
Using quality PLR (public label rights articles) that is written well and in good English will save you loads of time. But make sure that you do not just copy them into your sites. Because so many people use PLR, you have to rewrite them to make them unique and original, this is very important, as you do not want build a scraper looking site. You can buy PLR articles and you can also get them for free, just make sure they are quality articles and not a load of crap.
You can rewrite the PLR by hand, or use The Best Spinner, which I highly recommend you all check out because it is an excellent tool, and it now features the ability to post spun articles directly to your WordPress blogs from the tool’s dashboard.
Good PLR Resources
Tons of PLR Downloads for All Niches – Excellent resource put together by George at Serradinho Blog.
Free PLR Articles – Excellent resource from Jonathan Scott, lots of niches, and well written content
All Private Label Content – Some nice free packs
There are tons more sites with good PLR content online, you can also Google your niche + PLR and you will find relevant articles.
6. Quick Google Indexing for Finished Money Sites
Once your site is ready it is crucial to attract the search engines as quickly as possible and get the website indexed, especially by Google. Submit a content page (not home page) or two to Mixx, Jumptags and Stumble. Digg works great too, as long as there is an appropriate category for the niche. Google will always notice your site via those venues.
Every time I do this, my site is indexed within 2 days, all other on-site issues being equal, like proper on-site SEO, clean design and no tech issues.
7. Ongoing Promotion Methods
Then I submit the XML sitemap to Google Webmaster Tools, write a couple of articles for it to submit to article directories, especially Ezine Articles, add some more social bookmarks, a few directory links, and let it rest and age for a couple of months before building any more links or doing heavy promotion. In the meantime I keep adding more content regularly.
Using the above methods I can create, design, and launch a new site in about a day or at most two and have unlimited possibilities to make money online for free! The more practice the easier it gets.
