Okay well it seems that a June Google Page Rank update is underway right now, which is weird since the last one was just last month, but all my newer PRO sites went to PR1 or PR2, and 2 PR2 sites went to PR3 and other bloggers are posting the same updates on their sites.
And, this explains the shake up in the SERPS that I talked about the other day.
I do not think the update is done, because a couple of my sites went to PR2 which they surely did not deserve due to very few links, I’m not complaining but I think that it will go down.
Again for the newbies to this business, the toolbar PR is mainly useful for our own egos 
and link building.
the real PR (the one that matters) is updated daily behind the scenes of the Google Algorithm.
The SERPS, traffic and sales is what really matters, but it’s always fun when the update comes around.
SERP Update:
Just checked the SERPS and they are still all over the place with odd page 1 results and several of my sites, though given an increased PR falling radically, so most likely they are not stable yet.
Do you guys see PR updates on your sites as well?

I’m seeing an update too – only negatively for me unfortunately, I’ve been on holiday and so not done any writing or link building for the last couple weeks.
Just goes to show you need to be working on your sites all the time!

Check again tomorrow, two of my sites lost 1 point as well, but this same thing happened last update, and when I checked it again when the update was over, the site that lost PR initially gained it back +1

Have you been building links? How are your SERP positions? Which are not now, nor do they ever match the toolbar PR, it still seems to me that Google is discount links of some sort

Link building stopped for a few weeks while I was on holiday, and looking closer my total links have gone down and my SERPs have taken a slight hit. Makes sense really!

You’re so right about PR being nice for our egos! Mine is up for all my sites and I haven’t been doing much link-building so I think it will be short-lived. Oh, well, I’ll enjoy it while it lasts! Sometimes it’s the only thing that’s going right with my sites, lol.

I did not see an change in PR this time but did notice that my Alexa rankings are doing much better. As you say though it’s the real traffic and sales that matters

I haven’t noticed any change in PR for any of my sites. I’ve only seen a positive effect in the SERPs; however, as you mentioned, there’s a lot of crap on the first page. I have a YouTube profile one spot ahead of my site for my main keyword, and the profile is completely worthless. Hopefully they’ll get sorted out soon.

IMHO, this is NOT a real Google PR update. They just completed the last update in May, which was only 60 days after the one on March 28.

Well many are seeing changes in the toolbar PR so something’s up. They did this last year too, where they had two updates in a row..I guess we’ll see what happens

There is definitely a PR update going on and apparently it started last night, just Google “June PR update” and it’s all over the blogs and forums

JR, you know what was my expectation. Unfortunately, I don’t see any updates for all my blogs, all remain the same. My main blog is PR3, remain the same. I expect it to be PR4..just wait the updates over. I hope to see something new!

That sucks, 2 of my sites lost 1 point as well from PR2 to PR1.
I get the feeling that this update is discounting a significant amount of links, not sure which ones, or the types, not blog comments, since my sites have few of those, but I noticed in GWT account that the links numbers are way down from where they were last week.

Yeah, I’m seeing the lower PR reflected in the webmaster tools now as well (”low” instead of “medium”), which is strange since I thought the webmaster tools PR was more up-to-date than the toolbar, and it was still showing medium yesterday.
On a positive note, my SERPs seem to be climbing up again, since the algo tweak a few days ago– across the board increase across hundreds of keywords. Still not quite up to where we were before, but definitely a positive sign.

Well the SERPS are all that matter, mine fell again, for several sites, so I am still watching and waiting. Traffic is staying even but Adsense clicks are way way down today, sales are lower than usual as well, maybe just a bad day, will see tomorrow.
By the way, what tool do you use to check “hundreds of keyword rankings”?

Most of our websites use WordPress as a CMS, and we use a plug-in called “Position Yourself” that can give you a report of the SERPs of all your keywords. It’s not completely accurate, but it does give us a feel for general trends.

Ahh, yes I know the plugin, have only tried it once.
I use Exactfactor free verision, they track positions on any site static or blog, and they are excellent, send weekly reports, alerts for downfalls and increases, but the problem is you have to enter the KW you want to track, I want a tool that will just show me where I rank for all kw, know what I mean?

Oh as far as GWT being more updated and accurate I have not found that as of late, there are completely inaccurate reports there for Keyword rankings.

It has been more up-to-date in the past, as far as PR was concerned. Before the last update, GWT was showing us as PR4 for weeks before the toolbar was updated. I guess that wasn’t the case this time around.
GWT is outdated for most other info though.

Agree with you that trafics and sales are the most important, and PR on pagerank toolbar is only good for our ego. But we still need the toolbar as an indicator as nobody realy now how does google aglorithm works.

I don’t know, all kinds of weird things are going on with the SERPS and PR, they gave two of my brand new sites that have like ZIP links a PR2, totally bizarre and I know at the next update they will take it away.

How does pagerank effect on SERP? I am asking because some lower PR site are performing better than higher PR on SERP.

Well that is the usual state of things, PR seems to have little to do with rankings and many times lower Pr sites will outrank higher ones.
I think rank has a lot more to do with the trust Google has in a site, the strength of the backlinks and the real PR that Google is always updating behind the scenes, which is not the same as the toolbar PR.

My PR increased on one site and down on another .Not sure why.Google seems to be updating page rank more frequently these days compared to the past.

I lost PR on two sites as well. I suspect that there is a big change in the algo that is being rolled out and it is not done yet.

PR is overrated. Sure it’s a good way to initially measure a websites strength, but if you base all your assumption on page rank, well… let’s just say the huge profits you’re expecting are going to be a bit less huge.

What I believe links still important to faster the crawler to index my site. More page being indexed by crawler it means more money for me.
