True as to not worry about it too much on your own sites as rank is more important, but PR is still necessary for getting quality backlinks so it does have its uses from external sites and having a higher PR makes for more link building opportunities.

@JR: It's not just about PR and backlinks. Google is PR10 but they can't rank for 'Internet marketing strategies' because anchor text and surrounding text for their backlinks are not related to this. That is for sure and I see PR0′s outranking higher PR sites all the time, its really all about the backlinks.

All of this emphasizes the most important thing: As long as you’re on the TOP OF SERP, the Page Rank score is irrelevant! One of my competitors has a PR of “0″ yet he’s always challenging my site for the top Non-Sponsored Search Result in Google!

I usually write fresh stuff for my articles, or significantly rewrite my content with different KW for the articles, or else you are just competing against yourself in the SERPS, but article marketing has nothing to do with dupe content, read my post on it here: http://getinternetmarketingstrategies.com/2008/09/google-duplicate-content-penalty-myth-fact/

My blog went from 3 down to a 2. This surprised me as my traffic has gone up considerably and my links have gone up a bit since the last update. Article marketer id decent for article submissions but I have dropped them and went with unique article wizard instead, they distribute to more directories, better support, plus your articles are unique. The only down thing is that is a bit more expensive at 67 a month. Well worth it though if you can write an article a day or so.
