Well it’s time to say goodbye to 2008. I hope that you guys had great success in your Internet marketing business ventures and personal lives.
Once again I want to thank all my wonderful readers and commenters for all your participation and support for this blog, it has been one of my biggest online successes because of you.
I wish you the best for the New Year and a big toast to all our success for 2009!!!
Well another PR update has taken place. I think Google has f**ked this one up, one of my sites went from PR0 to PR3, and it did not really deserve it, but I’ll take it! Another 2 sites were appropriately ranked from PR1 to PR2. This blog stayed a PR3, surprising considering the number of backlinks, but substantial amount were no-follow from the many blogs I comment on, but I will have to look into this further.
As with any business, Internet marketing and online campaigns should have some kind of business plan and specific goals. I think this is especially important in Internet Marketing because we work alone and we need to maintain a high level of organization and focus that is so crucial for success.
With all the tedious daily tasks and hard work before us, such as, link building, writing content and articles, website design, promotion etc… it is easy to get caught up and lose site of the goals behind the work and neglect to pay attention to what is working what is not. Don’t just work, work smart.
Earning Goal – If you want to make $1000 a month in 2009, then set that goal and then outline the ways you will get there. Be specific.
List the venues and campaigns you will utilize to reach your goal, such as websites and/or blogs. Write it down and make sub-outlines detailing what needs to be done for each one to reach your goals. You may have many niche ideas in mind, but make sure to evaluate each one and focus on those that will bring you to your goals.
Planning can make or break you in this business. You can only go so far just flying blindly. Making Money Online is not just crap shoot, having a solid Internet Marketing plan can take you a long way.
End of the year is a great time to plan for the future year by reflecting and analyzing what did and did not work in 2008. The biggest successes in Internet Marketing and affiliate marketing come from the failures and those trials and errors can be your best friends. So evaluate, analyze and re-analyze so that you do not waste more time in the future.

Happy New Year, JR……..I don’t really think “Google has f*cked anything up,” because my web site just got PR4 after about one year at PR3. Even though I haven’t had time lately to post comments, I frequently take the time to read about new SEO information on your blog. Your recent e-mail alerted me to the PR update!

MY god those are some insane numbers.
I wanted to chime in. I got a page rank increase with this last one. I went from zeor to page rank three in less than 3 months. I am also happy with the results of my hard work so I know excatly how you feel. Only thing is how do you get so many subscribers? I only have 2..at one point I had 4. lol. Than is the next goal I want to conquer.
In the mean time I will keep doing what I was goign to get me to this point. building backlinks, blog commenting, and giving readers great content.

No for Internet Marketing Strategies. Internet Marketing is the keyword I will go for once I am on Page on of Strategies. There are some very high PR hurtles for both keywords on page one.

Congrats Dennis, I know how hard you work and I bet those rankings have a lot to do with you being top commenter on like 1,000 blogs! Cool, I am the first, I was sure you’d be mine, I think you’re slipping
@JR,
LOL @ 1000!
Regarding being first: Actually I’m rarely (almost never) first. I’m restructuring my comment strategy to try to take care of that.
I always subscribe via email (cringe cringe, yea whatever it works for me lol) and currently just wait for said email to arrive….read and comment.
This method does not afford me the luxury of being first commenter – or even in the top 5-10 usually, as I usually get the emails the day after the post is posted.
I be workin on it.

Dennis Edells last blog post..UPDATE: Changes Made To The Permanent BackLink Page
Hi Jr,
I just looked at my ranking and I have one 3 and one 4. They are both blogs less than one year old so I am being quiet and maybe the Big G won’t realize how bad they screwed up. Whatever the ranking ends up being, the information I received here really helped me. You have great content and I plan to buy you a coffee after this comment.
I had a question about anchor text. If my keyword is “dog bowls” and I get a link from a PR6 for the anchor “cat bowls”. Will I get any good out of this for dog bowl ranking or would it only matter when someone searches for cat bowls.
Thanks for all the help.

Thank you so much, I got the coffee, appreciate it. Congrats on the PR udpate, you must be building links right!
ie: anchor, NO, get the “dog bowls” or at the least an anchor that has those kw in it, like “green dog bowls” if you can/ The cat bowls is useless unless you want to rank for cat bowls. Especially since it’s a PR6, try whatever you have to to get them to give you dog bowls, beg threaten and bribe
@JR, although perhaps not in that order. LOL

That is totally right, PR is not as important as SERPS, and time and again we see lower PR’s outranking higher PR sites.

This post contains so much GREAT information and great links – I just want to point out a true “golden nugget” that might get overlooked in such an avalanche of information:
“If you want to make $1000 a month in 2009, then set that goal and then outline the ways you will get there. Be specific”
PRICELESS!!! Thanks!!!

Hey JR,
Happy New Year. My blog remained at PR3 (seems to be here like forever) although my main page got back to PR3 after dropping to 2 at the last update. Hey maybe you helped a little since you linked to me there. And my new blog got PR1. So good thing none went down. Congrats on your page 2 SERP.

I think that in order to jump from 3 to 4 and 5 some higher PR, and more authority links maybe needed. I am doing some testing on this right now.
Sounds like you have had a great year! Best of luck for 2009!

Thanks Tom, I am working hard to get to Page 1, but there is high end competition, will have to crush them in 2009!
This PageRank updates is showing some really strange things. I ‘m really hoping that it is not quite done yet… wishful thinking perhaps…
Great post. Setting goals for yourself is absolutely vital. You have to give yourself something to shoot for and provide motivation. And planning is key…without a plan you’re just running around from one task to the next and it will take you a lot longer to reach your destination.

Thanks for the tips on determining income to get the possible figure, I have done my home work last year, my blog is 4 month olds and now PR 3, I am working 6- 8 hours a day to boost PR and get as many inlinks as possible will eventually increased traffic to maintain steadiness and not dropping slope down.Any way congrats bro!

@Art….I spend about 6-8 hours a day on link building….but only during the winter months, when its too cold to work on home improvement projects outdoors.
There has been some “Google Dancing” going on…….nothing major but the SERP gets really F*cked Up for about an hour……where all the top sites disappear to page 30+.
When things return to normal, I’m back where I was before (at the top).
Its really funny how my friends will call me– in a panic….”Where’s my site?– Your site is gone too!”….relax its the Google Dance.
I’m predicting another PR update for March 20.
