I see, I’m a bit late. All conversation was going about two years ago. Is this Google Search – Based Keyword Tool still actual? When I clicked on the link it redirected me to a normal Google Keyword Tool. Thanks…

Sorry for late reply, missed your question.

The Approx Avg Volume is an average over a 12 month period and the Previous Month is only for that month, so depending on the month you are looking at the data maybe small, or it could be early in the month and there has not been enough time for people to search yet.

Overall KW tools are not perfect and the data can be wrong, what I do is use at least two tools to compare, like the Google and SEBOOK Free KW tool to compare, especially when there are weird results,

Also look at the keyword is it sensible? I mean it is something that a lot of people might search for, is it just too odd or weird

I always use keyword external tool and combine it with google trend but still didn’t find any success yet. Maybe if I add this search based keyword tool it will give better result on my targeted niche.

This is definitely an upgrade from other tools, as Google is giving you information directly from their databanks.
Thanks for the article, I was finding the new tool a little confusing, I wasn’t sure if one needed to have an adwords account to make full use of it.

@ Peter Sure! 1. SEO Book Free Keyword Tool 2. Google Adwords Keyword Tool since they added a numbered search results it is very good to compare results with others 3. Keyword Discovery, that one is not free but has a free trial 4. I also sometimes use Free Keywords Wordtracker. Plus of course this new tool from this post, I will be using that one often :-)

That is why I use at least three different tools, because in reality you will never find any tool that gives a totally precise search number, so you gotta compare results with different sources, also sometimes use common sense, is the keyword common enough for everyone to search, in reality it’s somewhat of a crap shoot especially with the long tails. I have used KW that supposedly had thousands of searches too and I had very little traffic, I am going to do a post about same subject next week.

Yeah you really gotta research blog titles, when done consistently you will see a surge in traffic from the SERPS and what a waste not to?!?

Thanks JR, I just tried it and simply loved it. While using this tool I found out I’m on page 1, #4 for the KW “Work From Home Ideas”. This tool says this KW has 10,000 monthly searches . But I’m not seeing that much traffic, only trickles as shown in my Google Analytics. You got a theory on this?
