By JR,
Here are some great bloggers in the Internet marketing and blogging arenas that offer useful and valuable content.
It seems that with some bloggers the more Internet Marketing “guru” they become, the less value they provide. In my opinion the main point of blogging is to provide value to your readers within your niche, whether it’s Internet marketing, MMO or purple dog leashes, content is the central focal point of blogs, so if there is no value a high subscriber count does not a great blog make.
I really don’t give a sh-t how many subscribers you got, what I am interested in is valuable content and I think that many new bloggers, those without thousands of readers offer a lot of value and should not be ignored, in fact it is the new bloggers that often try harder and deliver a lot more than their “guru” counterparts. What do you guys think?
Anyway, onto the bloggers that do it right…
Stephan Miller of Stephan Miller Blog offers extreme value on his Internet marketing blog and has been giving me lots of link love around the social sphere, thank you for that Stephan!
Like me, Stephan loves lists, make sure to check out one of the great lists he created on his Digital Products Review Site: How to Get Traffic to a Blog – 111 Ways to Promote Your Blog
Griz from Make Money for Beginners wrote two great posts about Adsense Optimization Tips for Adsense and I just Doubled My Income -Adsense Smart Pricing, both are very hands-on and useful posts.
Jason, The University Kid at Entrepreneur Blog is giving away a very good free e-book on flipping websites, that is really unique, get your free download here Make Money Dynamo.
Yan from Thou Shall Blog offers truly insightful and very comprehensive blogging tips and it is a pleasure to read his blog because there is always something new to learn and his interaction with his readers in comments is something to model. Make sure to read A-Z Blogging Guide for Beginners.
And, Peter Lee from Work From Home Business Blog, is fantastic at networking with other bloggers and webmasters for mutual success and interacting with his readers. The content is fresh, make sure to check out his post 200 + Passive Income Resources, Tips and Home Ideas. Oh and contact him and he’ll gladly exchange Technorati faves with you.
Tay from Super Blogging Tips provides a very cool strategy on link bait at: Want Traffic Call John Chow a Bad Blogger and don’t miss Decrease Your Posting Frequency, a sound and useful outlook for bloggers, that I completely agree with opposed to the fanatical daily posting strategy that some adhere to, what’s the prob with letting a post live a little? Tay also understands the value of link luv and spreads it around!
Oh and a little congrats to myself for making the 45n5 Top 100 MMO blogs from Digital Product Reporter, 45n5’s top 100 MMO blogs. By the way, this type of list is a great link bait and traffic generator, people really love those lists and they can be created for any niche/blog topic, you can check out how they do it at Create Your Own Top 100 List.

Ya know, I look at a lot of these lists, 45n5, Technorati, and so forth…..my question is, what these dudes (or dudettes) be smokin’ when they include some of the blogs that they do?
No offense to you, you deserve to be there. LOL
Dennis Edells last blog post..Are You Committing These 3 Articles Marketing Mistakes?
JR reply on November 30th, 2008 11:46 pm:
@ Dennis,
You are totally right, I have thought the same thing, 455n5 uses a script that uses a formula, it is not hand made by no means, the script takes into account certain factors like Alexa, Technorati ratings and other things, as we know these by no means gives any indication of useful or valuable content, as is evidenced by Shoemoney sitting as #2, no offense to Shoe, but I have yet to read anything of real value there, only the usual three line posts ;-(.
This is just more evidence about what’s in a name, and I know that Shoemoney is one of the kings of SEM, but I think his blog has NOTHING to do with MMO, and many people are drawn to him because of that pic of him holding that $250,000 Adsense check, though he has yet to tell anyone exactly how he go it!
But, you know this is nothing new, there are so many “big” “guru” type bloggers that really offer nothing of value and yet still boast a very high readership, again some of these have been around for so long, and are so well known, that readers seem to overlook this small deficit
I have to say that Problogger, Darren sitting in position #1 is very deserving.
Dennis Edell reply on December 1st, 2008 2:18 pm:
Show me a guru of any type that DOES offer anything of value (for less then $1997 that is).

Ouch, that’s so sweet of you, JR. How can I repay you?
Anyway, Griz certainly knows his MMO stuffs, Jason is one savvy nettrepreneur that I know of, Stephan’s style of writing is a joy to read and for Peter, well what can I say about him? He’s been one of the regulars since the beginning of thoushallblog.com.
Last but not the least, you’ve been a wonderful friend I came to know of recently., JR. You always have the nicest words for me. The same respect is given to you too.
Have a nice day ahead and welcome to 45n5 top club.

LOL…re: Shoemoney, he’s a mess isn’t he?
to be honest I do comment on his posts, (especially nice since they only take 30 seconds to read) only because of the super high traffic there, I suspect other do the same. Some of my niche sites have gotten many clicks from there, really depends on the niche though. Gotta get traffic where you can get it
Yan@The Smiling Blogger reply on December 1st, 2008 8:43 am:
Well, I don’t comment on A-list bloggers for the very reason that those who comments there are NOT interested in my blog. They have too much ego to learn anything from a beginner like me or perhaps, I should say, the conversion rate is pretty low. I’d rather have regulars than just ‘bounce’ traffic.
Oh, that’s just my point of view based on my own personal experiment. Unless, the commentluv picks up a title that says, “10 Reasons Why I Hate John Chow”…but then which problogger has commentluv anyway….;)

yan, flip the coin buddy. The A-listers themselves may be too ego’d to read you, but their “decipals” are mostly newbies….they are the ones to be reading the comments.

My experiment proved otherwise, you said, “their “decipals” are mostly newbies….they are the ones to be reading the comments.”…. what makes you think the “decipals” will follow me if they have been following th epro. Yes, they do visit but will they subscribe? Nada…because I don’t have a surname of Chow or Rowse or Starak…..
Speaking from my own experience.

That is why I said depends on the niche, if the anchor text is provocative like “cheap laptop computers”, that gets clicks, more so than “Internet Marketing Strategies”
To this blog very little traffic from Shoemoney, but I will tell you that John C and Darren approves my comments when I use specific post titles as anchors like the list of “100 RSS Submit Sites -Blog Traffic” got lots of traffic from them because it was relevant to those readers. Sometimes using specific post titles as the anchor can works!

A solid reminder brought up here is that individuals would do well to continue providing that which they were known to provide in the past. It does not do well for a company to slack on the support of their main product, and they would probably end up being out-competed by another one that continued to put effort out.

I don’t know how long this “experiment” was, but what I’m saying is, (smart) newbies are looking for info, not just a name, and after reading an article or two of yours (a little ass kissing here lol) they should happily convert.
I mention the time factor, because then the less intelligent newbies do catch on not too too long afterward that they are indeed simply following a name…not great content. LOL

That is how realistic the world is isn’t it? People follow blog just because of popularity but the content does not prove the worth at all. But I truely believe that if you continue to work hard and produce quality content, your effort will not go to waste. That is for sure!

Wow JR, Lots of Luv happening around here – much appreciated to all for the kind words. The A-list is quite baffling at times and while I give them all kudos for making some coin (can’t blame them for that) I have always wondered what the attraction is for the MMO crowd. The A-List talks about blogging – not how others can make money. I suspect as was mentioned here – people just use the sites in order to bleed traffic from them through the comments. I’ll stick to Google but I can understand everyone’s fascination with RSS subscribers – they don’t spend but they do polish up the ego. Lol
Thanks for the nod JR – if I can ever lend a hand don’t be shy.
