Happy Halloween!

Odds and Ends Do-Follow Comments

By JR,

Okay, I now it’s the day after, but I am moving this weekend and I am so insane that I thought I published this post Friday morning and I just realized that I never hit the publish button so…

HAPPY BELATED HALLOWEEN!!!

What a great holiday, a time to scare the shit out of yourself and someone you love :-) What could be better?

I am a horror movie fanatic and have been since I was eight and as my usual yearly Halloween fright ritual I watch Halloween I and II in the dark with my favorite horror star Michael Myers and today was no different, all though today I only had time to watch part I.

Can there be a Halloween without Michael? Not for me!

Hope all of you had some fun today and maybe got to trick or got some treats.

Anyone a horror movie fan? What is your fave?

If you love the content buy me a coffee.

Hey Ben, oh yeah you gotta get into the horror movies, they are the best!

Hope all had an awesome Halloween!

OK missy let’s get into it! I’ll go toe to toe anytime-anywhere with horror flicks. ;)
I too have been ensconced in the genre since a very early time and it only grows as time goes on…..I’ve taken my love a step further over the years.

Although a lot of the “A” list flicks are great (minus the “virgin slashers” and such…that ain’t “horror”), I’ve become more into the “B” side of things for a long time now.

I’m talkin’ ORIGINALS - 1930 on up, and even before (1913 silent Nosferatu anyone?) and all the other black and whites that the “kids today” scoff at.

    Which Psycho? Oh pulease….

Honestly? The great and all powerful modern technology has seriously screwed up a lot of movies, and I will fight to the death those who disagree. :-)
Since I could easily turn this into a novel rivaling “The Stand”, I’ll end here…

(For those not in the know, The Stand is a giant mother lovin’ book)

LOL Dennis, I had a feeling you would pop into this conversation. My love started in the 80’s with my all time faves being the Halloween series and When a Stranger Calls (the original). They certainly don’t make them like they used to, these days the horror genre always seems to miss the suspense and psychological aspect of fear and is just all about slashing and blood, and they even have the gaul to add humor, like with Scream, very disappointing. Of all the recent horror flicks my fave would have to be The Ring, I love when there is an interesting plot in horror!

The original Psycho of course is a classic. The Stand rocked, and Cujo, and probably my all time King faves are Misery and Storm of the Century.

LOL— the scariest Michael is the one named JACKSON.

I’m a zombie movie buff….. my favorite in this genre includes “Dawn Of The Dead” (new version) and “Sean Of The Dead” (british spoof of Zombie genre).

    @ Matt
LMFAO…MJ, he is scary. I never got into the zombie movies as much, my son loves those so I always see them with him, Sean of the Dead was great.

I hope you were kidding…at least meaning the new DOTD was a real horror.

It was awesome as a horror-comedy, but nothing beats the original trilogy ;)

JR - Funny that, the humor in scream is one of the reasons I loved the trilogy…it seemed a lot more intentional then most of the horror-comedies that just went terribly wrong as they were never meant to be funny LOL

I actually enjoyed the sequels. That combined with some actual freaky scenes made it a good play in my book.

King movies, where to start. I think the 4 you mentioned were the only ones that were even somewhat comparable (good) to the books…Pet Cemetery 1 also, but I saw the movie first on that one.

The thing I do love is King gives himself THE ABSOLUTE CORNIEST roles in each…in each that he’s in that is. The mark of a true genius LOL.

The Ring was exceptional, I agree. But, if you EVER get the opportunity to see the original in Japanese…..OMFG pretty much says it all.

Disregard the fact that it’s in Japanese, the imagery alone will keep your lights on for the next 5ys minimum.

You’ll have to have your research mojo set on super kill though, it was immediately cut for US release and almost as immediate it was banned from US distribution - not unlike the Traci Lords porn incident, some actually went to jail in the beginning LOL

    @ Dennis,
I saw the Japanese Ring and it was fantastic. And I was surprised that the US remake was as good as it was. I love the Japanese horror genre overall, like Grudge, some of those faces are truly horrifying.

Sure, I love horror movies, the ones I like best are any of them that has vampires in them. I’m an Aussie and had some trick or treaters knock on my door. Most unusual and I had to scrounge to find something to give them.

    Jr,
My Halloween was rather boring this year. But I too love a good scary movie. My all time favorite movie is Strange Land. It is not really a horror movie, but a weird freaky all in one. If you have not saw it, you have got to check it out.
