Participating in forums relevant to your niche is one of the best ways to get relevant and targeted traffic to your sites and blogs.

Internet forums are so widely used and have thousands of members that ask questions and engage in discussions and that large audience can turn into targeted traffic that can lead to lots of sales and subscribers. If you have not utilized the power of forums in your Internet Marketing endeavors that you are really missing out.

Plus the fact that any good Internet marketing strategy involves a diverse backlink portfolio, so getting links from different IP’s and domains that are related to your site is the best way to higher SERP ranks, and forum sig links are decent places to get some links.

Posting in do-follow forums can give you a nice backlink for link building and search engine optimization. The do-follow forum link comes from a link you set in the signature option of your profile, referred to as a sig link. This sig link appears at the bottom of your forum posts. So, every time you post that’s a backlink! Remember to use a good anchor text for SEO but also make sure it is eye catching for the forum audience to get the click!

Make sure to read the TOS and Posting Rules to make sure that you will not get banned. Also check out all the topics available in the forum many of them have a section for website promotion, guides, articles and how-to’s where you can refer to your sites within the post itself.

Make sure to sound like an expert (no typos ) this can bring lots of traffic!

Getting targeted traffic from forum sites is one way to make money online right away, while waiting for SEO to take affect and SERP ranks for the organic traffic. Since most of the forum traffic is highly targeted they are much more likely to buy.

  5. Andy @ Do Follow 001 Says:

    Thanks for the list. As you wrote, always check the ToS and forum rules before you start posting – unfortunately, these aren’t necessarily easy to find.

    Some forums don’t allow links until you have posted 50 times, others won’t allow signature links on posts with less than 80 words.

    Still, it’s good to contribute properly on these forums though rather than post bumping just for the sake of building links

    http://www.laser-eye-surgery-review.com

    JR reply on December 14th, 2008 8:11 pm:

    @ Dominic
    I could not tell you exactly how much PR value, but I do know that if that forum was to give you a link on their PR7 home page, a natural do-follow that would be golden, will it happen, NO, unless they are selling links. Does this mean that you should forget the lower PR inner pages? Of course, not, those inner pages still give valuable links, especially since G views that webpage as an authority site with the PR7. I myself, do not worry so much about PR of home and inner pages. Just build links, they all add up in the end, even if you only have PR0 links.

  34. Internet Marketing Strategies Says:

    Hey, JR.

    Just a quick note. How on earth did you write this authority post – did you have any contributors or support? Did you use any software programs? That post must have taken a lot of time and effort to compile such an exhaustive list! I have heard of some software programs that allow a user to type in a keyword and the program will find appropriate blogs that do NOT have the rel=NOFOLLOW command for their posts.

    Sincerely,

    Daniel.

    JR reply on January 8th, 2009 1:04 pm:

    @Daniel
    Thanks! No I did this myself by hand, I just used Google to search. It actually did not take that long, a few nights and a couple of hours a night. Those softwares you are referring to are used to find do-follow blogs, but these are forums, I have never heard of one for forums.

    Yes it would, I am not sure if there are enough forums to create enough links on their own to rank high, but if the KW is very low competition I am sure it would work.

    Get the add-on SEO FOR FIREFOX, download it to the Firefox browser (if you use it) then it will put a little SEO icon at the bottom of your browser bar and when you select it, all links on all websites you visit that are no-follow will be highlighted red. If you do not use Firefox, you can also check the page source and look at the link’s code to see if there is a rel=”nofollow” following the signature links in the forum posts.

    Is there someone on here that can give me some insight or know of anyone that coud give me insight on how I can get my local website on the front
    page of a Yahoo or Google search to increase my business without it costing me 5 or 10k $$$? If so please share with me.

  60. martin@LGV Training Says:

    thanks for tips. I have a question though,

    Should I post to forums with high index page but the actual page for putting links has no PR at all? Will google still consider this as a boost to my PR?

    JR reply on April 6th, 2009 11:03 pm:

    @martin
    Yes, the home page PR will bleed some PR to those pages, and eventually the inner pages get PR as well, of course it is better to get links on direct pages with PR, but not always possible. Also, getting links from authority sites, as some forums are is always good no matter the page those links are on.

    martin@LGV Training reply on April 6th, 2009 11:11 pm:

    @JR,
    Thank you for your quick reply.
    I will still try to look at some direct pages with dofollow and PR3-4 only and try to see if it will bleed some PR to me.

    Kind Regards,
    Martin
