Want more blog traffic? Often times blog traffic, like website traffic, can be elusive. Being proactive in getting blog traffic is an important part of blogging.
You can use the usual methods of getting traffic to your blogs, like article marketing, social bookmarks and other link building methods that bring traffic. But, you can also take advantage of the RSS feed technology that comes with blogs and promote them with special RSS/Blog submission sites.
Because blog’s have feeds and are updated regularly with fresh content, RSS sites exist to promote such content to their own members, and that means BLOG TRAFFIC for you.
Blog Traffic
Many of these RSS/Blog directories have lots of members and so they can bring you tons of blog hosting traffic and especially targeted blog traffic since most of these sites categorize the blog submissions by niche, topic and/or subject. Also, many of these sites automatically update on their sites as you post content, so your actual posts get exposure.
Backlinks
Many of these sites are high PR, some 4, 5, 6 plus. And while most are probably no-follow, Yahoo ignores the no-follow tag.
Over 500,000 people searched for blogs this month alone and submitting to these sites is just another way to gain access to those searchers and get blog traffic!
So here is a list of 100 of these RSS/Blog Directory sites that will bring lots of blog traffic. Make sure when you submit to them that you use the appropriate category for your blogs when available and always add your main keywords as tags (if applicable), tags is how many people search for blogs on these sites.
Don’t worry, this list is long but it will not take that long to submit, since quite a few of these sites fetch your info from your meta tags.

Here is an auto submission RSS software, RSS Submit 2.40, but the free version only submits to a handful of sites and I was not that impressed with it.
Blog traffic is important so I suggest submitting manually with the list, it takes time but it is better to control what you put in and make sure your submissions took since many of the sites require email and confirmations to avoid spammers.

Cool, thanks for sharing that list. I recently started to submit to RSS directories and that’s why I noticed some already visited links in that list!
It just reminds me I still have a lot of other websites to submit my rss feed to!
Good job and I’m sure this list will generate some Google traffic…Kind of thing people search.

JR,
Coincidentally I was working on another list of 51 sites from Stephan Miller just yesterday, so it goes to show that promoting your RSS feed is that important and can have very powerful viral effect. Thanks for sharing such a good resource list.

I’ve asked this dumb question elsewhere and no one wants to answer it LOL.
Do I use the “normal” feed link – domain.com/feed – or my feedburner link?
OT – your security certificate is outdated and giving me a popup when I enter.

Hi Dennis,
I use domain/feed, or you can use the feedburner, it doesn’t matter as long as it picks up your posts and it will tell you if it is having a problem picking them up, or identifying your feed. Will check out the certificate, thanks!
Wow it was an even dumber question then I originally thought, thanks! LOL

Hi Dennis,m
Sorry for late reply, I was in Vegas, lost a ton of money, I am soooooooooo pissed! Went back to soon since the last time I went and won a a tone of money….:-(
Anyway, there are no dumb questions in IM, only dumb ones don’t ask enough questions!

By the way, no clue what that damn certificate thing is, I think it is for one of my banners.
That’s a bummer since I get a popup on every visit.

Yes, and I usually win, because I have a very dead on intuition but my head wasn’t on straight this time, I broke my own rule and did not walk away after I won as I usually do and put it all back and then some, FUCKED UP TOTALLY!!

Wow, this is a heck of the list. That said, I’m not fond in using auto-submission tool as I prefer to do it manually. That way I get to choose which one I’d go and which to avoid. It must have taken you a while to compile those, JR.

I ve never submitted my blog to any RSS feeds, I much look at this option thanks for this list , I ve bookmarked it..

I’ve been thinking about writing a submitter program for these kinds of sites. Maybe I’ll have to push ahead with it.

Hi Frank,
Submitter software is great, as long as it’s semi auto, like having them open within the window of the software not completely auto, those don’t work too well, plus it’s nice to see that the submission tool. But for sure it is needed for these RSS sites, since the couple of softwares I used did not work so great, kept freezing up and the submissions weren’t taking by the sites.
Thanks so much for this wealth of information. Now I will have to start applying it!

I know I love lists as well.
Some of those listed are do-follow, the problem with these is that the url is not direct to home page, but to the feed url. But, so many of them list your posts individually and so those are good backlinks to inner pages. But, some of them do give a link back to the home page with your title/anchor
Hey Jr.
Quick comment here. I love this blog. It’s great! And one question: “Is there a difference between an RSS and a blog directory?” from the list above, it looks as though they are the same. I wa always under the impression that an RSS directory differed from a Blog Directory.
Your thoughts, JR.
Sincerely,
Daniel Tetreault.

Actually these sites are RSS directories, or blog directories, same thing, just sites that list a variety of blogs, which are RSS sites.
@JR, OK now I’m confused. Blog directories take your domain URL…..www.domain.com…..and RSS directories take you feed URL. Two separate things, no?
Dennis Edells last blog post..Best “Blog Improvement Review” Contest – 1 Winner – $100 via Paypal

@Dennis Edell
No, it’s the same thing, except a different format, some of them can auto pull your RSS feed straight from your domain because it is a blog, most of them say enter either your url or RSS url, when it comes to blogs the RSS is automatically detected on a blog url. If, let’s say I entered a static site url, they would give me an error message saying it’s not a valid RSS.
Most of these sites parse the posts of the url, like comment luv does for example.
@JR, That’ll teach me to ask before trying! (There are in fact dumb questions lol)
