While most of my focus here is Internet marketing and affiliate
marketing, I have picked up a trick or two about blogging and blog promotion. Unlike website promotion, it is actually easier to promote blogs.
If you are running a blog then you probably know that every time you post content the blog pings feed services out there and that helps spread your content and gets the blog exposure.
The Wordpress default list for pinging is pretty pathetic, I think when I started this blog there was only one on the list. On the advice of more experienced bloggers I have added many more over the months, which provides much more exposure and I wanted to give all my blogger readers a list of the services I ping.
Directions to Update Ping Services
From your dashboard go to Settings then Writing, and at the bottom there is a box to add ping services.

JR, thanks for the goldmine of information. My only question, and I hope it’s not too dumb, is that I use blogger, and I cannot find where on my Blogger dashboard to insert these urls. Any ideas from you or your audience?

That list and pinging ability only works with self hosted domains, not with the free hosted blogger, wordpress.com etc. Those blogging platforms are controlled by them and I do not believe you can edit those settings. I am also pretty sure that google, who runs blogger, all ready pings a long list of services.
