Link Building – 11 More High PR Do-Follow Social Sites
Link Building, Search Engine Optimization, Social/Web 2.0 Marketing Do-Follow CommentsBy, JR
All of a sudden these do-follow social bookmarks are just coming at me left and right. I have added these to the original post 50 Social Bookmarking Sites, which is now 65+ Social Bookmark Sites. Remember that social site links are a critical part of an overall link building strategy as well as the benefit of their ability to bring traffic to your sites.
Magnolia – Must Have! PR7 No-Follow Social Bookmark. No categories, just add tags. I just realized when editing my list that I had not put Magnolia on it, not sure how this happened, but this is one of the best Social Bookmarks for link building, even though it is a no-follow counts strong with Yahoo backlinks and when you join groups it can bring traffic to your sites, brought me traffic time and again.
Googletop - PR3 Do-Follow Social Bookmark. Various Categories. Googletop could have a few more categories for my taste, but it’s a good one for link building.
Oopza – PR2 Do-Follow. Thanks to my friend Suzanne for turning me on to this one. Lots of categories, all though some of them are oddly specific. I found the submission process to be a little tedious since it did not automatically parse my Meta tag information, but worth the extra effort.
Lipstick – PR7 Do-Follow News Site. Celebrity related content only.
Dzone – PR6 Do-Follow News Site. Web developer related content only. Link is do-follow on inner page, not front page.
Plime – PR6 Do-Follow News Site. Categories remind me of Digg, so be careful what you submit, you might get banned for spamming.
Listible – PR5 Do-Follow. This one is different, no categories instead there are lists, find a relevant list and add your links OR if there is no relevant list you can create your own and add all related content to that.
Humsurfer – PR4 Do-Follow News Site. Submit anything, no category limitations. Primarily this site is an Indian community news site, (that is the country) all though I did find many US stories.
Care2 – PR6 Do-Follow News Site. Categories include, tech, green/environment, wellness, animals, off beat. Link is do-follow on inner page, not front page.
Hugg – PR6 Do-Follow News Site. Green related content only.
Shoutwire – PR4 Do-Follow News Site. Usual categories, tech, politics, biz…and then there is girls…where you find everything from Christina Applegate to Sarah Palin to Epic Boobs
…webmaster must be a guy!
Remember to anchor your links correctly with your keywords. Also, remember to submit deep pages and not just home pages especially to the bookmark sites.
Cool Anchor Text Trick for Deep Pages: When anchoring your deep pages you can use this format Page Title | Main Keywords, if your site title contains the main keywords then you are all good, if not, make it appear as if it does.
For example, my laptop site’s main keywords are cheap laptops, so I can add a deep page anchored like this, Laptop Buying Guide | JR’s Cheap Laptops. Some sites won’t accept such a long title, but most do and this way you get your site-wide KW for every link.
Also, submitting to social sites can be very time consuming that is why I use Social Bookmarking Submission Service to submit for me. It’s a great service, submits to over 125 sites, really saves a lot of time and is very affordable.
Here’s to Link Building!
Anyone have any more to add to the list? Leave the info in the comments. Anyone have a favorite(s) where they have seen great results?

Jr,
This is a great list. I started using Hugg a few weeks ago for my “green” blog and it has delivered a nice amount of traffic and back links.
I have heard of Magnolia, however never used it, but I guess I need to check it out huh.
Thanks for the list!

Hey JR,
Great info you provide here. Quick question, which plan would you recommend to go with on SocialMarking.com for automated submission to social sites?
Thanks!

Hi Cellulite,
Thanks and welcome to the blog, I use the 160 sites with 16 unique titles for $40. The 16 different titles is good for variation of anchor text and for using a variety of keywords.

Hi, does this mean you were happy with the outcome? I Googled to check up on Socialmarking.com and one of the first things to come up was a complaint that someone paid for the 1,000 submission and only got about 100 – he was calling it a scam. Now I’m nervous!
JR reply on October 9th, 2008 11:05 pm:
Hello Sirena,
Welcome to the blog and thanks for the comment. I have used them 3 times for directory and social bookmark submission, never had a problem. I also know a couple of my readers have as well, and I have not heard any screaming from them, so I assume that it worked out ok. But, I understand how you feel after reading that site and if you feel nervous there are other services and software options that do the same.
Also, there is socialmarker.com, free and faster than doing individual submissions, but still takes time. Also, I just checked out socialposter.com a couple of days ago, seems to be better than social marker and with more sites.

Hi Amit,
Are you sure? Because according to SEO Quake it is a do-follow and the link location is direct to source site, it is do-follow from your profile page as well as the home page where they feature “recent bookmarks” What makes you think it’s a no-follow?
October 7th, 2008 at 12:06 pm

Hey JR, this isn’t meant to be snarky lol, but I must ask…Do you actually “use” all the sites you list yourself?
Since you read my first knowledge link love, you see why i’m a little nervous about it LOL.

Hi Dennis,
I do use them and many of them get submitted for me by the service I use, however on your post, I think I misunderstood what you wanted, Did you want ALL the social sites we submit to? OR oOnly those we are active on? By active I thought you meant more like Facebook kind of interaction. That is why I only listed a few, can you clarify this for me?
October 7th, 2008 at 3:50 pm
Which comment was that? I did not delete any of your comments, I will check Akismet, maybe it went to SPAM.
Amit reply on October 7th, 2008 4:01 pm:
Yes I think it must be Askimset then, anyways I was explaining that the link comes with two tags together rel=”bookmark, nofollow” on all the out links on ma.gnolia and that is the reason it is picked up seo quake.

Hey Amit,
That is interesting, I did not know that a link can be marked that bypasses SEO Quake, hmm that is good to know for testing future links. I guess the best thing to to check the page source every time.
Anyways, Magnolia is still powerful since Yahoo ignores the no-follow and like I said I have gotten some nice traffic from Magnolia from other groups members.
October 7th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
Active as in more then a filled out profile LOL. Able to tell WHY you like a certain site, things they have done for you, etc., like some others have done.
Dennis Edells last blog post..Knowledge Link Love #1: What Are Your Favorite Social Networks and Why?
JR reply on October 8th, 2008 4:19 am:
Hello Dennis,
Well you see I did understand you correctly, the sites I listed on your blog are those that i am active on within those parameters, however, I submit to all the social sites I list on this blog primarily for backlinks and traffic and to vote for other members submission and not really to interact with other members, besides joining groups, again always with backlinks and traffic in mind.
I can barely keep up with all I do everyday, to actually take the time to delve in and make the effort necessary other than logging in to submit with some of these social sites, would literally mean I would need 5 of me cloned and working! I will go back to your blog and explain.

Very nice to share this stuff with us. Well, I actually knew almost all of these but it’s always good to be informed. For example, I knew for some of this SB sites but haven’t used them and now will certainly give more attention to some of them.

It is so freakin hard to keep track of all these do follow sites and what not. I ran into a post a month or two ago that had a slew of dofolow sites listed, BY CATEGORY. I’m kicking myself in the arse, for not saving it. Now i can’t remember where, for the life of me.
Thanxs for this awesome list. Easy and clear descriptions for us non-techies. Will save this one.

Awesome list, thanks mate! Hope your continue your contribution. By the way, those social bookmarking sites are really useful. Use them from time to time. I try to use DoFollow only though. For people that don’t know, Digg is Nofollow, so don’t spend time with it, unless you’re going after traffic
JR reply on December 2nd, 2008 2:36 pm:
@ Diyet
Thank you I appreciate your comments. Digg is a pain the ass, they are so selective in what you can submit and really unless you are Tech Crunch or some other big name it is very hard to get to page 1 where it matters. Also, I too try to use the do-follows mostly, but Stumble can is no-follow but brings in decent traffic to many niches.
