Funny post. I love the fact that you tell it like it is. If you list site as do follow then why make people use terms or names for link. Makes no sense at all.

Yes it is KeywordLuv, here is the link: http://www.scratch99.com/wordpress-plugin-keywordluv/. With this plug in the name field would be JR @ Internet Marketing Strategies. I was thinking about switching to it since Ben from SEO Horror turned me onto it, but have been so busy with other things have not had a chance.

I always use a keyword and then my name. Some people do not like it, but I do it for the keyword and add my name so people can address me if needed. I did find a really cool plugin a few weeks ago I wish I could find again. It had an area for the name and then for keywords and it make comments look like...

Tara from keywords- then keywords were linked to the blog.

Work At Home Mom Taras last blog post..<a href="http://thewahmblog.com/2008/09/05/affiliate-program-rundown/" rel="nofollow">Affiliate Program Rundown</a>

Sorry, I meant to add on the Chrome. I just back back from a 2 month outage to find at least 15 posts on it.

Everyone deleted, not even one read...how many browsers does one need?? LOL

Not entirely correct. The purpose of comments, regardless of plugin used, is for conversation in regards to the post above.

A conversation generally starts with a name. I for one think it's just plain silly (being nice) to start with "Hello king of all marketing tips, thanks for stopping by".

Now there are two acceptable alternatives that makes everyone happy, at least on my blog.....

You name or initials before or after keywords...like Tara did above.....

or at the very least, sign it at the end of comment.

Either way, reader get his/her keywords, blogger gets a name to associate.

I do assume we keyword haters are jaded. I'll freely admit, that if 9 outa 10 purely keyworded names weren't followed by totally useless posts that just get deleted anyway, I may feel different.

The damage is done.

Excellent post as always buddy, look for a link back from my own post soon. I may even keyword it ;)

@JR

I guess KeywordLuv plugin could be solution to person/site identity issue. But unfortunately it is not widely used, known and somewhat breaks common user experience.

I am thinking about modifying my theme to separate names and links in comments. So reader doesn't have to do anything out of ordinary.

"By the way, thanks for your post on CC Cleaner, it really helped me out!"

No problem. You are blogging to help people figure out marketing, I am - to help them figure out software stuff. :)

@ Rarst
You are right that people can do whatever they want with their blog. This was my personal opinion, and I have lots of commenters who get a nice backlink with their site KW for their comments that is a do-follow, and they do not right mindless copy pasted comments, they write valuable relevant ones.

I for one often click on the comment’s because I am interested in the subject of their website that I identify through keywords.

By the way, thanks for your post on CC Cleaner, it really helped me out!

"The whole point of the do-follow is to give link juice to your valuable commenters and readers, in order to help their link building efforts and Page Rank. If you only allow first names then don’t bother with the do-follow, you defeat the whole purpose!"

I think the whole point is that people can do whatever they want with their blogs.

When I click someone's name in comments I am clicking person, not bunch of keywords.Because that person and that comment interested me.

I don't demand using names at my blog but I simply nuke to spam mindless copy-pasted "this-is-good-stuff" by "ton-of-keywords".
