Regardless of what some haters may say, reciprocal links are vital for your Search Engine Optimization efforts and should be a part of an overall link building strategy. Just build links everyday!
Reciprocal Links Golden Rules:
Rule #1 - Reciprocal links must be from sites relevant to yours - build links for your visitors and not search engines.
Rule #2 - Link Placement: Make the links on your site look like a side effect and not the end goal.

FINDING LINK PARTNERS
Often times it is difficult to find link partners. Also, to monitor and make sure that your partners are still linking to you is a BIG PAIN!
A PLACE TO FIND RECIPROCAL LINKS PARTNERS
- Link Market is a service that brings reciprocal link partners together and it is a great place to find other webmasters to exchange links with
- They monitor the links to your sites and alert you if one of your partners has removed your link
- There are over 100,000 webmasters participating
- All sites are categorized to easily search for relevant links partners
- Create anchor text and description
There are two versions, paid and free. The free version limits you to 5 partner requests PER day and limited reporting, however, there is no limit to the requests you can receive from others. I use the free version and it suits me fine.
The only hindrance with the free version is that you cannot block requests from certain categories and so you get lots of irrelevant link requests but, I just decline those.
With Link Market you pick and choose your links partners and then MANUALLY place the links on your site. Link exchanges are NEVER automated or placed for you and it is a great FREE venue to find link building partners. Check out LINK MARKET.

My links page is called “DJs across the USA” and is all Disc Jockey services. Although I also have 2 front page links to a photograper (weddings) and a Murder Mystery Production company (entertainment). We get tons of recip requests but only exchange links with a handful of sites.

You are doing it right, so often I see links pages with all kinds of irrelevant links and this is just a useless move nd could actually alert Google of bad practices.
